Basionym: Graphis seminuda Müller Arg., Bull. Soc. Roy. Bot. View in CoL Belgique 30: 79 (1891).

Type :— COSTA RICA. Baie de Salinas, Pittier 5241 ( G!, lectotype, designated by Lücking et al. 2008: 108) .

Thallus corticolous, pale grayish white, continuous, smooth, corticate, dull or slightly glossy. Lirellae prominent, with a thick lateral thalline margin, short to elongate, up to 4 (–6) mm long, straight, curved or sinuous, simple or usually irregularly branched, labia convergent, entire, disc concealed, not visible from above, (farinulenta -morph). Exciple completely carbonized; hymenium clear; ascospores 8/ascus, hyaline, transversely 10–11-septate, 44–56 × 8–9 μm; 11–13-septate, 40–65 × 8–11 μm ( Lücking et al. 2009), 10-septate, 42–63 × 8–11 μm (protologue).

Chemistry: no lichen substances by TLC ( Lücking et al. 2008).

Distribution and habitat:—Pantropical, reported from Costa Rica (type locality), Australia, the Lord Howe Island (Archer 2009) and the first time for Thailand, Mukdahan province from Pitakpong et al. (2015). It was collected in a dry dipterocarp forest and in a teak plantation. The two collection sites are very far away from each other (Northeast- Thailand and South Thailand) which suggests a wide distribution of the rare species in Thailand.

Remarks:—The description in Lücking et al. (2008) “Thallus ecorticate, farinose ...” is incorrect, because the lectotype specimen clearly shows a corticate and glossy thallus.

Material from Thailand examined:— Phuket province: Thalang district, in the area of Kho Tosae , in a teak plantation ( Tectona grandis ), 170 m, 07°53’58’’ N, 98°23’57’’ E, 24 April 2012, J. Sutjaritturakan 4105 (hb. K. & J. Kalb 42455) GoogleMaps .
