Digonocryptus femorator Kasparyan et Ruíz 2005:173 View in CoL . ♀, ♂ Description, keyed, figure. Holotype at Universidade Autonoma de Tamaulipas, Cd. Vitoria, Tamaulipas, Mexico (not examined). Syn. nov.

Description. FEMALE. Fore wing 9.6 mm.

Head. Ventral tooth of mandible distinctly longer than dorsal tooth. Clypeus apical area delimited by smooth border; clypeal margin with one tooth. Antenna with 26 flagellomeres; white band starting at flagellomere V; 8 flagellomeres at least 50% white.

Mesosoma . Mesopleuron with scarce short hairs, 95–99% of cuticular surface visible. Subalar prominence large and round, suboval. Sulcus between sternaulus and scrobe weak or not differentiated. Posterior transverse carina of mesosternum represented by a few transverse rugosities or invagination at discrimen ( Fig. 165). Lower metapleuron regularly transversely striate. Propodeum: area in front of anterior transverse carina with faint sculpturing, medially with two incomplete ridges extending from carina to anterior margin. Propodeal apophyses present as very weak, almost linear carina. Posterior transverse carina complete, distinct between and beyond apophyses, reaching lateral or posterior margin; its shape sharply convex, approximately as an inverted V. Area between transverse carinae obliquely striate; area behind posterior transverse carina radially striate within yellow area. Fore wing in Fig. 213; vein 3-Cu 1.42 times longer than 4-Cu. Hind wing in Fig. 253.

Metasoma. Postpetiole dorso-anteriorly convex or flat. T1 dorsolateral carina weakly to clearly developed from spiracle to apex; median dorsal carina absent; petiolar spiracles in dorsal view weakly or not prominent. Ovipositor 1.1 length of hind tibia. Apex of lower valve with 10 teeth.

Color. Black and yellow. Lateral pattern as in Fig. 3. Orbital band interrupted only at malar space, width at supra-antennal area and temple about 0.3 of interocular distance. Supraclypeal area yellow, except on and above parantennal impression. Clypeus yellow, except black apical area. Mesosoma dorsally black, except as follows. Pronotum dorsally along anterior margin with wide yellow stripe medially interrupted, laterally on dorsal margin with small transverse yellow spot. Propleuron postero-lateral angle with medium to large yellow spot. Mesoscutum centrally, at level of tegula, with distinct yellow spot. Scutellum and postscutellum entirely yellow. Propodeum as in Figs 3–4. Fore femur dark brown dorso-laterally (except apex sometimes), laterally, and on apical 0.6 ventrally, femur otherwise yellow. Mid and hind femur with same color pattern of fore femur, except dark colors generally slightly darker. Remaining of legs yellow, except progressively dark brown from t1 to t5 of fore and mid tarsi. Metasoma dorsally mostly black, except as follows. T1–2 apical margin with wide yellow stripe; T3 apical margin with transverse yellow stripe of regular width; T4–T8 apically stripped transversely in yellow.

Morphological variation. Fore wing 7.5–13.7 mm. Antenna with 24–26 flagellomeres; white band with 9 articles. Propodeum: area in front of anterior transverse carina polished, smooth, medially with two ridges extending from carina to anterior margin sometimes complete. Posterior transverse carina approximately as an inverted V. Area behind posterior transverse carina striate-rugose or rugose. Ovipositor 1.10–1.30 length of hind tibia. Scutellum and postscutellum mostly yellow. Hind femur sometimes more extensively dark. T3 apical margin with transverse yellow stripe of regular width slightly wider laterally.

MALE. Very similar to female, except as follows. Orbital band often (70%) complete; propodeal area behind anterior transverse carina with yellow stripe wider than on female, covering almost the entire area.

Comments. Similar to D. annulitarsis (Cameron) (compare Figs 1 vs. 3), this species can be immediately separated by having propodeal apophyses very weak (vs. apophyses conspicuous); posterior transverse carina approximately U-shaped (vs. bell-shaped, or nearly so); mesoscutum with a distinct central yellow spot (vs. without yellow spot). The wide yellow mark next to the propodeal posterior transverse carina ( Fig. 4) occurs also in D. rufigaster (Szépligeti) ( Fig. 8), from which D. variegatus can be isolated by clear differences in the metasoma and legs (compare Figs 3 vs. 7).
