Genus Lanelater Arnett, 1952
Lanelater Arnett, 1952 . Type species: Agrypnus schotti LeConte, 1853 . For more information, including synonyms, see Kundrata et al. (2019a).
Remarks. Recently, Mangi et al. (2020a, 2020b, 2021, 2022) published several studies on Elateridae from Pakistan; however, these contain some serious flaws. Mangi et al. (2020a) reported a new click-beetle species from Pakistan which they classified in the New World genus Dipropus Germar, 1839 of the subfamily Elaterinae . The new species description was obviously based on a female specimen of the agrypnine genus Lanelater (see Fig. 3 View FIGURE 3 in Mangi et al. 2020a). Mangi et al. (2020b) reported the presence of Mexican species Aptopus opata Johnson, 2018 (subfamily Cardiophorinae ; Johnson 2018) in Pakistan. Also that study was obviously based on the species of genus Lanelater (see Fig. 2 View FIGURE 2 in Mangi et al. 2020b). Mangi et al. (2021) reported several mostly West Palaearctic species of genus Agriotes Eschscholtz, 1829 from Pakistan, including the description of a new species. The new species description was obviously based on a curculionid beetle [sic!], and at least one other species identified by authors as Agriotes was in fact the species of agrypnine genus Lanelater (see Figs 1 View FIGURE 1 and 2 View FIGURE 2 in Mangi et al. 2021). Most recently, Mangi et al. (2022) described a new species of Conoderus from Pakistan but based on the photographs it is in fact again a member of Lanelater (see more details under L. bipunctatus (Candèze, 1857)) .
