Morphological characters

The Praomys View in CoL species of the jacksoni View in CoL complex can easily be differentiated from species of the tullbergi View in CoL complex by the well marked fronto-parietal crests on the skull and the presence of a separate t3 on the first upper molar ( Lecompte et al. 2001).Two specimens were newly captured during our study, confirming the previous record of Fülling (1992). In the Northern part of the CVL, this species is also reported in Gotel Mountains ( Hutterer et al. 1992) and the Adamaoua Plateau ( Hutterer & Joger 1982). Two specimens were sequenced by one of us and included in a phylogeny ( Missoup 2010). They represented a distinct genetic group (close to North Gabon and Congo specimens) within the highly divergent West central African P. jacksoni (de Winton, 1897) View in CoL clade.
