This species is similar to P. caesiopruinosa , but can be distinguished by smaller ascospores, striate lirella and a carbonization which almost reaches the base of the lateral exciple.

Distribution and habitat:—This rare species is known from Australia (Western Australia, Queensland) and is here reported for the first time from Thailand. It was found growing on bark of various trees in mangrove forests, dry Eucalyptus forests, edges of rainforests and mixed deciduous forests in open, well-lit situations from sea level up to 440 m.
