Type locality. Vicinity of the Azores, eastern North Atlantic Ocean (36°17'N 28°53'W).

Depth range. 0–6145 m.

NORTH ATLANTIC OCEAN. south-west of Greenland; north of Saô Miguel, Azores; Bay of Biscay; north-west of Cape Finisterre, Spain; west of Cape St Vincent, Portugal; west of Cap Blanc, Mauritania; off Marthas Vineyard; Nonsuch Island, Bermuda ( Chevreux 1905a, 1916, 1927, 1935; Stephensen 1915, 1933; Schellenberg, 1926b; Shoemaker 1945; Andres 1987).

SOUTH ATLANTIC OCEAN. Cape Point, Cape Province, South Africa; ( K.H. Barnard 1916, 1932; Griffiths 1975).
