Subfamily Urocyclinae

Remarks. Urocyclinae has been regarded as a subfamily within Urocyclidae by most previous authors ( Baker 1941a; Hausdorf 1998; Solem 1966; van Goethem 1977; Van Mol 1970b). Schileyko (2002b) included it as a subfamily of Helicarionidae but we disagree with his findings (see Helicarionidae Remarks) and follow the traditional classification, with key characters defined as follows:

Shell highly reduced (less than two whorls), plate-like, covered by mantle. Visceral mass incorporated into foot. Flagellum absent, small lime-sac present; stimulator absent or present.
