Type (lectotype, designated by Hansen 1980: 68):—[illustration] Weddell (1850): pl. 11, figs. 48–51.

Nomenclatural notes:—In the protologue, Weddell (1850) doesn’t indicate any type-material, but provide only an illustration (pl. 11, figs. 48–51). Referring to the type of L. rubiginosa, Hansen (1980) wrote: “ Type. Typified by the protologue in Wedd. l.c. [1850]”, which according to Art 7.10 of the ICN constitutes an effective lectotypification. We traced one herbarium specimen “ Weddell s.n. ” collected in Goiás, Brazil (vide Hooker 1856), in the carpological collection of herbarium P ( P No. 6360, barcode P 02442133!, image available at https://science.mnhn.fr/institution/ mnhn/collection/p/item/p02442133) belonging to the original material, and presumably the specimen from which the illustration provided in the protologue was based. Nevertheless, according to Art. 9.19 of the ICN the lectotypification proposed by Hansen (1980) must be followed.

Taxonomic notes:— Langsdorffia rubiginosa is a heterotypic synonym of L. hypogaea Mart.
