Cheumatopsyche malmi Oláh & Johanson , new species

This species is similar to C. criseyde Malicky from Thailand and C. gaia Malicky from Nepal, but the forewings of C. malmi have large pale spots on the darker wing membrane; the lateral interlobular gap is oval in lateral view; the apicoventral setal lobes on segment X both have subapical setae directed dorsomesad; the harpagones are divided into broad basal and narrow distal parts, not tapering gradually; and the horizontal section of the phallotheca forms an almost regular tube with no significant distal dilation in lateral view.

Male. Body and wings brown with brown pubescence. Forewings with large, pale spots on light brown membrane, more distinct around pterostigmas, thyridial cells and cubital cells. Maxillary palp segment I shortest, segment II longer, segments III and IV equally long, segment V as long as segments I–IV together. Head dorsum dark brown, with 9 dark warts. Proepisternum without swollen setal wart. Protarsal claws asymmetrical, laterally flanked by setal bundle. Forewing length 6.0 mm, hind wing length 4.5 mm. Hind wing fork I absent.

Male genitalia. Abdominal segment IX fused annularly; tergum about half as long as sternum ( Fig. 75); anterior margins of segment IX almost regularly curving in lateral view, upper half slightly less convex; apical lobe on posterolateral margins forming large broad plates from immediately above base of coxopodites up to mid-height of segment X ( Fig. 75); spine row on posterior margins of segment IX more or less continuous along posterolateral margins. Intersegmental step between segment IX and segment X indistinct. Segment X well developed, long, subquadrangular in lateral and dorsal view ( Fig. 75, 76), trilobed in dorsal view ( Fig. 76); apex of setaless dorsomesal lobe wide, with truncating posterior margin ( Fig. 76) forming posterad apex in lateral view ( Fig. 75). Apicoventral setal lobes forming sinuously, dorsad curving processes with rounded apices in lateral view ( Fig. 75), with 2–3 mesad orienting, stout setae; in dorsal view lobes directed mesad with slightly narrowing apices; interlobular gap in lateral view almost circular ( Fig. 75), delineated by backwardly directed tip of setaless mesocaudal lobes and dorsad curving apicoventral lobes. Lateral setose areas forming small, elevated, rounded warts clearly visible in dorsal and lateral view ( Fig. 75, 76), located centrally on distal half of segment X ( Fig. 75); and slightly producing laterad in dorsal view ( Fig. 76). Transverse and longitudinal sutures visible; transverse suture ending in small, dorsal hump. Coxopodites extending beyond apex of segment X, in lateral view straight with slightly dilated apices ( Fig. 75); in ventral view gently curving mesad, narrowest centrally ( Fig. 77). Harpagones bipartite, formed by broad, longer bases and short, narrow distal part ( Fig. 75, 77). Phallothecal dorsum and ventrum straight ( Fig. 78), forming regular, simple

tube without strong dilations in lateral view; sclerotised endothecal process nearly ovoid; phallotremal sclerites broad, oriented vertically in lateral view.

Holotype male: LAOS PDR: Luang Namtha Prov.: Nam Ha NBCA, Lakkhammai Village, Nam Leung stream, 749 m, UTM 47Q 0744602, 2339873, 30.iv.2005, light trap, loc 29 [N. Jönsson, T. Malm & B. Viklund] ( NRM, in alcohol).

Distribution: Laos PDR.

Etymology: Named after one of the collectors of the holotype, Mr Tobias Malm.
