status

sp. nov.

Cheumatopsyche kindamba Oláh & Johanson , new species

Fig. 139–142

The species resembles C. gibbsi Statzner from the Ivory Cost, but the apex of the apicoventral setal lobes are different, being almost reniform in dorsal and lateral view. The gonocoxites are slightly sigmoid, not tapering; and the phallothecal dorsum is straight.

Male. Body and wings pale brown with light pubescence. Maxillary palp segment I shortest, segment II longer, segments III and IV equally long, segment V as long as sum of segments I–IV. Head dorsum brown, with 7 slightly lighter warts. Proepisternum without swollen setal wart. Protarsal claws asymmetrical, laterally flanked by setal bundles. Each protibiae with 2 spurs. Forewing length 5.0 mm, hind wing length 4.0 mm. Forewing crossveins m-cu and cu almost tangential. Hind wing fork I absent.

Male genitalia. Segment IX fused annularly, tergum very short, sternum 3 times as long as tergum ( Fig. 139); anterior margins of segment IX convex in lateral view ( Fig. 139); apical lobe on posterolateral margins triangular, short, located above base of coxopodites; spine row on posterior margins of segment IX interupted below dorsocaudal spiny lobes; spines on dorsocaudal lobes at least twice as long as lateral spines. Interseg- mental step between segment IX and segment X deep, triangular ( Fig. 139). Segment X long, shallow in lateral view ( Fig. 139), quadrangular and bilobed in dorsal view ( Fig. 140). Transverse sutures crossing segment ( Fig. 139). Longitudinal sutures forming continuation of apicoventral setal lobes, circling both lateral setose areas; dorsomesal plate straight-cut apically ( Fig. 139). Apicoventral setal lobes slightly upcurving, with reniform apices, basal halfs more developed ( Fig. 139). Lateral setose areas reduced to pair of elevated, circular small wart, located beyond transverse sutures, surrounded by longitudinal sutures, located centrally on segment X. Coxopodites extending beyond apices of segment X, straight, both apices dilated. Harpagones both slightly broader at base, finger-like, not tapering in lateral or ventral view ( Fig. 139, 141); slightly S-shaped in ventral view ( Fig. 141). Phallothecal dorsum ( Fig. 142) straight, constricted mid-length; sclerotised endothecal process elongated, as broad as apex of phallotheca; phallotremal sclerites small, rounded in lateral view.
