Cheumatopsyche ambohima Oláh & Johanson , new species

Fig. 167–170

This species is similar to C. ambodivoa , new species but the pair of apical lobes on segment IX are shorter; the pair of lateral setose areas on segment X are larger and elevated almost into short processes; and the apices of the apicoventral setal lobes are directed mesad, curving dorsad and bipartite in lateral view. The coxopodites are more robust in lateral view, and the harpagones are rod-like in lateral and ventral view.

Male. Body and wing membrane light brown ochraceous with light pubescence. Wing membrane homogenous without pattern. Maxillary palp segment I shortest, segment II longer, segments III and IV equally long, segment V as long as sum of segments I–IV. Head dorsum light, almost yellow, with 5 warts of same light colour. Swollen setal wart absent on proepisternum. Protarsal claws asymmetrical, laterally flanked by setal bundle. Each protibiae with 2 spurs. Forewing length 6.4 mm, hind wing length 5.0 mm. Forewing crossveins m-cu and cu running closely to each other, almost touching. Hind wing fork I absent.

Male genitalia. Segment IX fused annularly; tergum very short, sternum 2 times longer than tergum ( Fig. 167); anterior margins of segment IX regularly convex in lateral view, tergal part less excised, flatter than sternal part ( Fig. 167); apical lobe on posterolateral margins broadly triangular, located above base of coxopodites; spine row on posterior margins of segment IX interrupted between apical lobe and apicolateral corner of tergum. Intersegmental step between segment IX and segment X sloping. Segment X short, broad, nearly triangular in lateral view ( Fig. 167); quadrangular and bilobed in dorsal view ( Fig. 168). Transverse sutures crossing at central part segment X ( Fig. 167). Longitudinal sutures not visible. Setaless mesocaudal lobe weakly produced, forming clearly convex central margin ( Fig. 168). Apicoventral setal lobes bipartite in lateral view, apices slightly curving dorsad and mesad ( Fig. 168). Pair of lateral setose areas forming processlike elevated warts, well beyond transverse sutures and at base of apicoventral setal lobes. Coxopodites extending to apex of segment X, straight, both with slightly dilating terminal halfs. Harpagones gradually narrowing, sinuate in lateral view ( Fig. 167); slightly sigmoid in ventral view ( Fig. 169). Phallothecal dorsum ( Fig. 170) straight; ventrum slightly broader apicad from midlength; sclerotised endothecal process short, rounded; phallotremal sclerites small, subquadrangular in lateral view ( Fig. 170).

Holotype male: MADAGASCAR: Ambohimanakana , Manamabto, Anove, iv.1955 [R. Paulian] ( MNHN, in alcohol).

Distribution: Madagascar.

Etymology: from the name of the type locality.
