Calliaster pedicellaris Fisher 1906 View in CoL
Fig. 2 View FIGURE 2 F
Fisher 1906: 1061; Mah 1998: 67; Chave & Malahoff 1998: 86; A.M. Clark 1993: 247. (as C. pedicellaris ) Grigg et al. 1987: 387 (misspelled as “ Calliastar pedicellaris ”)
Occurrence. Hawaiian Islands region, 237– 740 m.
Feeding observations. One image ( Fig. 2 View FIGURE 2 F, data listed below) shows C. pedicellaris humped over small sized branching coralline structures. These are possibly bryozoans, gorgonian or stylasterid corals. As indicated below, the Calliaster pedicellaris indicated in Chave & Malahoff (1998: 45) is most likely not correctly identified but may be Evoplosoma forcipifera or Hippasteria muscipula .
Video observations. Bank 11: NWHI: R-234-d1-03722. 28.8698, -179.5586, 367 m.
