Discraeus rossicus Stackelberg, 1955: 332 View in CoL . Type locality: Russia (Leningrad Province).

Description. Head black ( Fig. 11 View FIGURES 6–11 ), 0.85 times as long as high in profile; frons brown with distal 1/2 yellow, as long as wide; gena yellow, broad, 0.7 times as wide as first flagellomere; ocellar triangle black, reaching anterior 2/3 of frons, with pointed apex. Antenna yellow except for dorsal margin of first flagellomere black; first flagellomere 0.9 times as long as wide; arista brown with short brown pubescence. Proboscis brown to yellow, palpus brown. Scutum black, 1.1 times as long as wide. Thoracic pleuron shiny blackish brown. Scutellum black, 0.5 times as long as wide. Coxae and trochanters yellow, femora black except for distal 1/3 of fore femur, distal 1/4 of mid femur and distal portion of hind femur yellow, fore and mid tibiae yellow, hind tibia black with both ends yellow, tarsus yellow with fore tarsomeres 4–5, mid and hind tarsomeres 3–5 brown. Wing hyaline, 2.5 times as long as wide; veins brown. Relative lengths of 2nd: 3rd: 4th costal sections = 6: 2: 1. Halter pale yellow. Abdomen brown except for tergite 1 yellow with a pair of brown apico-lateral spots. Male genitalia ( Figs. 37 View FIGURES 32–37 , 43 View FIGURES 38–43 ): Epandrium brown, height 1.3 times width in profile; cercus narrowed, finger-like; surstylus as long as epandrium, distal 1/4 suddenly widened, round and narrow apically, with some long setulae on inside of distal widened part.

Female. Body length 2.8–3.4 mm, wing length 2.3–2.8 mm. External characteristics similar to male.

Distribution. China (Beijing, Guangdong, Yunnan, Ningxia, Hebei, Hubei, Guizhou, Sichuan, Qinghai, Gansu); Japan; Russia (from European part to Far East); Mongolia; Czech and Slovak Republics; Estonia; Finland; Hungary; Switzerland, France.

Remarks. The species is somewhat similar to D. stackelbergi Nartshuk, 1967 , but can be separated from the latter by the surstylus as long as epandrium in lateral view, with some long setulae on inside of distal widened part. In D. stackelbergi , the surstylus is distinctly shorter than epandrium in lateral view, with some thickened setae on inside of distal widened part ( Nartshuk 1967).
