Pseudomicrocara obliquata ( Solier, 1849)

( Figs 2H View FIGURE 2 , 3H View FIGURE 3 )

Cyphon obliquatum Solier, 1849: 456 (terra typica: provincias meridionales de Chile)

Helodes obliquatus: Gemminger & von Harold 1869: 1618 ; Kolbe 1907: 71 (Southern Chile)

Cyphon obliquatus: Pic 1914: 32 (checklist; Chile).

Cyphon obliquatum: Blackwelder 1944: 267 (checklist; Chile); Moroni 1985: 174 ( Chile, Southern Provinces). Pseudomicrocara obliquata: Libonattti & Ruta 2013: 182 (transferred to Pseudomicrocara )

Type material. Lectotype (present designation), “ Cyphon \ obliquatum \ Sol. Chili ” [handwritten with brown ink, probably by Solier]; “9 \ 45” [handwritten on a green, round label]. The specimen is missing metaventrite and abdo- men.

Description. Sex unknown, body oblong, TL 4.6 mm. Head brown with yellowish anterior portion (clypeus and part of frons), pronotum yellow with slightly darkened central portion of disc, scutellar shield brown, elytra brown with yellow adscutellar area, suture, oblique stripe in the anterior half, small oval dot adjoining suture, and apex. Antennae, legs, and ventrum yellowish-brown. Punctures on elytra separated by ca. 0.3–0.5 diameter of a puncture, punctation of pronotum strong, similar to this on elytra. Anterolateral angles of pronotum widely rounded, not projecting.

Remarks. Solier studied more than a single specimen of this species as ranges of measurements were noted in the original description ( Solier 1849), therefore a lectotype is designated in order to preserve the stability of nomenclature by selecting one specimen as the sole, name-bearing type of the taxon. For descriptions and illustrations of morphological characters, including male genitalia, see Libonatti & Ruta (2013).
