Remarks. This is the first record of the genus Palumbia from Iran. The species P. eristaloides is separated from other Palumbia species by the following combination of characters: legs predominantly orange except for about apical 1/3 of fore tibia and fore tarsus; wing without median spot; abdomen black; tergite 2 with a pair of large rectangular orange maculae; tergites 3–4 with a pair of small triangular orange maculae laterally; posterior margin of tergites 2–4 orange. According to our findings, P. eristaloides appears to be fairly common in Iran. It was collected from late May through July in the Central Elburz Mountains and Central to Western Zagros Mountains, at altitudes above 2100 m. Prior to this study, P. eristaloides had been recorded from Transcaucasia (Armenia), northern Turkey and Lebanon (Speight 2016).
