Limnogonus hyalinus (Fabricius, 1803)

Previously recorded from Costa Rica (Alajuela Province), Panama, and Trinidad & Tobago, then southward to Bolivia ( White 1879a; Champion 1898; Kirkaldy 1899a, b; Hungerford 1927; Drake & Harris 1930; Kuitert 1942; Hynes 1948; Nieser 1970; Nieser 1994; Aristizábal 2002; Pereira & Melo 2007; Molano et al. 2008, 2018; Posso & González 2008; Morales & Castro 2010; Moreira et al. 2011b, 2016; Herrera 2014; da Motta et al. 2018). In our study area, L. hyalinus was collected on a small puddle along an unpaved dirt road, as well as on lakes, lagoons, rivers, and streams. It has been found along the Atlantic and Pacific slopes, at elevations up to 700 m a.s.l., and is herein recorded for the first time from Heredia, Guanacaste, and Puntarenas provinces.
