Branchiopoda View in CoL View at ENA
Few Branchiopoda View in CoL groups are found in tropical regions, primarily due to their reliance on seasonally astatic aquatic habitats. The large branchiopods (fairy shrimp, tadpole shrimp, and clam shrimp) of the Neotropical bioregion are reviewed in Rogers et al. (2021). The branchiopod fauna of the Virgin Islands is represented by three taxa. The fairy shrimp genus Streptocephalus (Streptocephalidae) View in CoL has three species in Puerto Rico ( Smith and Wier 1999; Rogers et al. 2021), and could occur in the US Virgin Islands.
