Megadytes sp.

Three species are reported from the Caribbean islands. Megadytes fraternus Sharp, 1882 and M. lherminieri (Guérin-Méneville, 1829) both recorded from Antigua, Guadaloupe, Haiti, Cuba, and Puerto Rico ( Leng and Mutchler 1914, 1917; Wolcott 1948b). Megadytes giganteus has a broad distribution in Latin America and the Antilles, spanning Mexico to Argentina, Bahamas, Cuba, Hispaniola, and Puerto Rico ( Wolcott 1948b; Peck 2016; Megna et al. 2018). It is the only Megadytes previously reported from the US Virgin Islands (St. Croix) ( Peck 2016). We only found larvae in the turtle pond by Dorothea ghut. This is the first record of the genus from St. Thomas.
