Chimarra sp.

Representatives of the Philopotamidae ( Chimarra maldonadoi Flint, 1964 , C. albomaculata Kolbe, 1888 , and C. puertoricensis Flint, 1964 ) are known from Puerto Rico ( Botosaneanu 2002). We found a single pupa, probably of the genus Chimarra , in Spring Road ghut in the algal mats at the base of the water tank, below a leaking crack on the front. Mature adult males are needed for a positive determination. This is the first record of the family from the Virgin Islands.
