Armases roberti (H. Milne Edwards, 1853) View in CoL

Shy and retiring during the day, we found this species very active at night, foraging along the lower reaches of Dorothea and Neltjeberg ghuts, as well as Crown Bay ditch, as much as 200 metres from the sea . A small group was observed actively attacking a Macrobrachium carcinus that was trapped in a puddle too small for the big shrimp to manoeuvre. We also found this species at Brewers Bay, Mandahl Bay, and Abi Beach . Chase and Hobbs (1969) give other records from St . Thomas and St. Croix.
