Eurycoplangiodes Massa , new genus. Figs. 21–26a View FIGURES 21–26

Type species: Eurycoplangiodes sanghaensis n. sp., here designated

Diagnosis. The shape of the eye is not much elongated as in Eurycorypha , more similar to that of Plangiodes , but more prominent. Lateral carinae of forehead stout, lateral carinae on pronotum, dorsal margin of fore tibiae rounded, mirror of right tegmen absent.

Description. General habitus. Head and antennae. Fastigium of vertex scarcely wider than first antennal segment, not contiguous with fastigium of frons. Eyes a little elliptical, prominent, face smooth with lateral carinae, higher than wide. Thorax. Pronotum with lateral carinae, as long as high, with a well-developed humeral excision, lateral lobes widely rounded. Legs. Short, fore coxae armed with a fine spine, fore, mid and hind femora armed, fore tibiae dorsally rounded, fore and mid tibiae ventrally armed, genicular lobes of hind femora armed with 2 spines on inner and outer margins. Open tympana on inner and on outer margins of fore tibiae. Tegmina narrow, well-developed, shorter than hind wings. Stridulatory area lacking mirror. Styli absent.

Etymology. The name Eurycoplangiodes derives from the two genera Eurycorypha Stål, 1873 and Plangiodes Chopard, 1954 , with which this genus shares some characters.

Remarks. Eurycoplangiodes new genus is related to Eurycorypha and to Plangiodes . According to Chopard (1954) the genus Plangiodes from Kenya has a general aspect of Eurycorypha , with which it shares a distinct longitudinal carina on either side of forehead, eyes elliptical and lateral carinae on the pronotum, but the fastigium verticis is scarcely wider than the first antennal segment 1. Eurycoplangiodes n. gen. has eyes less elliptical than Eurycorypha , forehead carinae stouter, fastigium of vertex scarcely wider than first antennal segment and lacks mirror on the right tegmen.
