Paraeurycorypha Massa View in CoL , new genus. Figs. 27–35 View FIGURES 27–35

Type species: Paraeurycorypha ocellata n. sp., here designated

Diagnosis. This genus is characterized by open tympana on fore tibiae, laterally compressed fore femora, rounded dorsal margins of pronotum and eyes oval.

Description. General habitus. Head and antennae. Fastigium of vertex wider than first antennal segment, not contiguous with fastigium of frons. Eyes elliptical, prominent, face smooth, higher than wide. Thorax. Pronotum with rounded margins, as long as high, with a well-developed humeral excision, lateral lobes widely rounded. Legs. Short, fore coxae armed with a fine spine, fore femora laterally compressed, fore, mid and hind femora armed, fore and mid tibiae ventrally armed, genicular lobes of hind femora armed with 1 spine on inner and outer margins. Open tympana on inner and on outer margins of fore tibiae. Tegmina wide, well-developed, shorter than hind wings. Stridulatory area with mirror. Styli present.

Etymology. The name Paraeurycorypha indicates some affinities with the genus Eurycorypha Stål, 1873 , with which this genus shares some characters.

Remarks. The shape of the eye is as elongated as in Eurycorypha . Dorsal margin of fore tibiae is furrowed, mirror of right tegmen is present. The fastigium of vertex is similar to that of Pseudoplangia , broader than in Plangia , fore tibiae are as compressed as in Pseudoplangia , hind tibiae have small and not broad-based ventral spines (as in Pseudoplangia ), and styli are present in the male sub-genital plate, while are absent in Pseudoplangia . Fore tibiae in Eurycorypha are not laterally compressed, pronotum margins are not rounded, but with an evident angle. Thus, the species here presented has not characters of any of the above listed genera.
