Arius utarus ZBK Kailola, 1990: 12, fig. 4. Type locality: Murik Lakes , New Guinea. Holotype: AMS I.25406-001 . Paratypes: AMS I.25406-002 , WAM P.27846-001, P.27847-010, P.28224-001 , QM I.21674 , CSIRO C3532 , KFRS 5517.01 , RMNH 28814 , SAMA F6254 .

Distribution: Northern New Guinea.

Countries: Papua New Guinea.

Habitat: Mostly freshwater, but also in brackish water

Maximum size: 450 mm TL.
