( Figs. 16 View FIGURES 16 , 17A View FIGURE 17 )

Material examined. Holotype ( ZMAN): male, Greece, Peloponnese, Region of Sparti town, Evrotas River near Vivari spring, 04.vii.2007, leg. Pešić. Paratype ( ZMAN): 1 male (juvenile), same data as holotype .

Diagnosis. Petiole axe-shaped; ligulate process elongated, leaf-shaped with a pointed posterior extension.

Description

Male: Idiosoma L/W 919/672 wide, colour green. Anterior margin of idiosoma slightly concave. Capitular bay wide, U-shaped. D3 (sensu Wiles 1997) on small tubercles. Cauda distinct, pygal lobes short. Hyaline membrane slightly concave. Petiole axe-shaped, posterior margin concave. Ligulate process extending beyond posterior margin of petiole, leaf-shaped and pointed posteriorly ( Fig. 17A View FIGURE 17 ). Associated setae of petiole slightly shorter than petiole. Genital plates narrow, extending to lateral idiosoma margin ( Fig. 16B View FIGURES 16 ). Posterior margin of Cx-IV indistinct. Palp: total L 318, L: P-1, 34; P-2, 82; P-3, 66; P-4, 88; P-5, 48; P-2 medially with three setae in anteroventral corner, and one seta near anterodorsal corner; P-4 stocky ( Fig. 16D View FIGURES 16 ). Length of I- L-4-6: 146, 148, 152. Length of IV-L-4-6: 239, 156, 176; IV-L-4 with a long spur. Legs I–IV with numerous swimming setae.

Female: Unknown.

Etymology. Named after the country of the type locality.

Discussion. The new subspecies differs from A. ornatus George, 1900 in its smaller size, and a more slen- der ligulate process. Moreover, the petiole of A. ornatus has a longer stem (compare figs. 17A and B). Arrenurus oezkani Smit and Erman, 2003 from Turkey has a similar body shape, but its petiole is widest in the middle, the ligulate process is more rounded and the genital plate is wider.

Habitat: Pool of running water.

Distribution: Known only from the type locality in the Peloponnese.
