Records from the study area: Croatia: Besseling (1957), Pešić (2002f), Smit et al. (2000); Macedonia: Georgiev (1957), Smit et al. (2000), Baker et al. (2008).

Habitat: Pools of running waters, lakes.

Distribution: Centre of distribution W, N and Central Europe, only occasionally in S Europe.

(2000), Pešić (2003e); Macedonia: Pešić (2003j), Baker et al. (2008); Bulgaria: Petrova (1971); Greece: Stephanides (1971), Smit et al. (2000).

Remarks: Many of the old records of M. orbicularis might refer to M. roztoczensis , especially those from streams.

Habitat: Lenitobiont.

Distribution: Holarctic.
