Type Locality: Angola, Benguela, Quindumbo.

Vernacular Names: Dobson's Epauletted Fruit Bat.

Distribution: Angola to Rwanda, Tanzania, Malawi, and N Botswana.

Conservation: IUCN / SSC Action Plan (1992) – Not Threatened. IUCN 2003 – Lower Risk (lc).

Discussion: Neotype designated by Bergmans (1989). Distribution mapped by Taylor (2000 a). This name has sometimes been spelled dobsoni (e.g., Koopman, 1993) but the original spelling is with a double "I".
