This Indo-Pacific species does not occur in the Red Sea. Frøiland (1972) reported this species based on a misidentification of 4 specimens of Scorpaenodes steinitzi Klausewitz & Fröiland, 1970 from Ras Muhammed, Elat and Farasan, Sarad-Sarso.
