Hymenophyllopsis asplenioides A.C.Sm. in Gleason (1931: 302). Asplenium asplenioides (A.C.Sm.) Pittier et al. (1945: 45) View in CoL . Type: VENEZUELA, Amazonas, Summit of Mount Duida, 5500–6000 ft, Tate 439 (holotype NY!, isotypes BM! fragment, M! fragment, US! fragment).

Distribution: Venezuela (Amazonas, Bolívar), Guyana, in rock crevices, 1650–2450 m.

Characteristics: This species is mostly bipinnate or pinnate-pinnatifid, and can be easily distinguished by its long sterile segments that terminate the pinnae.
