Type material. VIETNAM, Ha Giang Province: Holotype female from Vi Xuyue, Tay Con Linh, Nature Forest , 22.80°N, 104.81°E, 2200 m, 5 December 2002, Pham Dinh Sac leg. ( IOZ, LJ20210628008 ). GoogleMaps

Etymology. The specific name is derived from the Latin adjective spatiosus, - a, - um, meaning “large”, referring to the large S in ventral view; adjective.

Diagnosis. The female of P. spatiosa Zhang, Jäger & Liu , spec. nov. is similar to that of P. bibulba ( Xu & Yin, 2000) ( Xu & Yin 2000) by the S with distinct large lateral loops. It can be recognised by the anterior margins of LL forming a very wide “U” or “V”, sclerotised part of IDS forming 2 circles in ventral view (anterior margins of LL forming a trapezoid, sclerotised part of IDS building a “W” in P. bibulba ).

FEMALE (LJ20210628008): Measurements: Medium sized. Body length 11.8, DS length 4.9, width 4.6, OS length 6.9, width 5.5. Eyes: AME 0.18, ALE 0.31, PME 0.21, PLE 0.24, AME–AME 0.13, AME–ALE 0.08, PME–PME 0.19, PME–PLE 0.35, AME–PME 0.28, ALE–PLE 0.24, CH AME 0.37, CH ALE 0.31. Spination: Pp 131, 101, 2101, 1014; Fe I–III 323, IV 322; Pa I–IV 101; Ti I–IV 2126; Mt I–II 2024, III 3025, IV 3037. Measurements of palps and legs: Pp 6.5 (1.9, 0.9, 1.3, –, 2.4); I 15.6 (4.6, 1.8, 4.3, 3.7, 1.2); II 19.7 (5.3, 2.3, 5.9, 4.6, 1.6); III 14.3 (4.3, 1.7, 3.9, 3.4, 1.0); IV 16.2 (5.0, 1.3, 4.1, 4.3, 1.5). Leg formula: II-IV-I-III. Cheliceral furrow with ca. 28 denticles.

Epigyne ( Figs 224A–C View FIGURE 224 ): As in diagnosis. EF wider than long, with indistinct AB, and its anterior margins trilobate. LL touching each other along the median line. FW central covering part of IDS. FD long and narrow.

Colouration ( Figs 225A–B View FIGURE 225 ): DS reddish-brown with indistinct brown marks and lines. Fovea and striae distinct. OS dorsally yellow with reddish-brown marks, especially in posterior half, ventrally yellow with several dots. Dorsal PS, Cx and sternum and dorsal and ventral OS with several scars.

MALE: Unknown.
