Type material. CHINA, Hunan Province: Holotype female from Zhangjiajie City, Wuling District, Yaozi Village , 29.33°N, 110.45°E, 719 m, 27 July 2016, K. Yu, T. Lu & Y. Wang leg. ( CBEE, LJ2117 ). GoogleMaps

Etymology. The specific name is derived from the Latin adjective alienus, - a, - um, meaning “strange”, referring to the special shape of vulva in dorsal view; adjective.

Diagnosis. The female of P. aliena Zhang, Jäger & Liu , spec. nov. can be recognized from that of other Pseudopoda species by the trapezoidal EF, LL having a margin almost 360° in ventral view.

FEMALE (LJ2117): Measurements: Small sized. Body length 7.4, DS length 3.5, width 3.2, OS length 3.9, width 2.5. Eyes: AME 0.11, ALE 0.21, PME 0.17, PLE 0.19, AME–AME 0.14, AME–ALE 0.10, PME–PME 0.21, PME–PLE 0.31, AME–PME 0.27, ALE–PLE 0.25, CH AME 0.33, CH ALE 0.30. Spination: Pp 131, 101, 2121, 1014; Fe I–II 323, III–IV 322; Pa I–III 101, IV 100; Ti I–II 2228, III–IV 2126; Mt I–II 2024, III 3025, IV 3036. Measurements of palps and legs: Pp 5.0 (1.5, 0.6, 1.0, –, 1.9); I 12.9 (3.9, 1.4, 3.7, 2.9, 1.0); II 14.9 (4.2, 1.6, 4.4, 3.5, 1.2); III 10.9 (3.6, 1.2, 2.9, 2.5, 0.7); IV 12.2 (4.0, 0.8, 3.0, 3.3, 1.1). Leg formula: II-I-IV-III. Cheliceral furrow with ca. 23 denticles.

Epigyne ( Figs 6A–C View FIGURE 6 ): As in diagnosis. EF almost twice as wide as long, posteriorly distinctly wider than anteriorly, AB absent. LL touching each other along median line anteriorly, this contact zone not straight, but slightly undulating. FW well developed, covering the entire S. FD extremely long, longitudinally oriented.

Colouration ( Figs 7A–B View FIGURE 7 ): DS yellow with dark spots and marbled pattern between eyes and fovea, two indistinct lateral bands, margin with thin dash line. Fovea distinctly, striae slightly marked. Sternum with fine dots at coxae. OS dorsally reddish brown with several black marks, ventrally several black dots, irregular arranged.
