Type material. CHINA, Sichuan Province: Holotype female from Ya’an City , Baoxing County, Fengtongzhai

Township , Fengtongzhai National Nature Reserve [30.57°N, 102.88°E], 1682 m, 2 July 2004, P. Jäger & S. Li leg. ( SMF, SMF0001 View Materials ). Paratype: 1 female GoogleMaps , with same data as for holotype ( SMF, SMF0002 View Materials ) .

Etymology. The specific name is derived from the Latin adjective flexus, - a, - um, meaning “crooked”, referring to the crook-shaped of S in ventral view; adjective.

Diagnosis. The female of P. flexa Zhang, Jäger & Liu , spec. nov. is similar to that of P. exiguoides by the posterior part of LL with lateral projections. It can be distinguished by LL touching each other only slightly in the median lines (LL touching each other along a distance at the median line in P. exiguoides ).

FEMALE (SMF0001): Measurements: Medium sized. Body length 10.2–11.0, DS length 4.6, width 3.9, OS length 5.6, width 3.3. Eyes: AME 0.15, ALE 0.24, PME 0.19, PLE 0.22, AME–AME 0.14, AME–ALE 0.08, PME–PME 0.21, PME–PLE 0.36, AME–PME 0.33, ALE–PLE 0.28, CH AME 0.41, CH ALE 0.34. Spination: Pp 131, 101, 2121, 1014; Fe I–III 323, IV 331; Pa I–IV 101; Ti I–II 2228, III–IV 2126; Mt I–II 2024, III 3024, IV 3036. Measurements of palps and legs: Pp 6.2 (1.8, 0.9, 1.3, –, 2.2); I 14.9 (4.5, 1.5, 4.2, 3.6, 1.1); II 19.4 (5.4, 1.8, 6.0, 4.6, 1.6); III 11.4 (3.5, 1.3, 3.2, 2.7, 0.7); IV 15.6 (5.1, 1.1, 3.8, 4.2, 1.4). Leg formula: II-IV-I-III. Cheliceral furrow with ca. 22 denticles.

Epigyne ( Figs 110A–C View FIGURE 110 ): As in diagnosis. EF nearly as long as wide, with inapparent AB. Anterior margins of LL long, forming narrow V-shaped. IDS with spiral coils in ventral view. IDS partly covered by FW.

Colouration ( Figs 111A–B View FIGURE 111 ): DS reddish brown with dark spots, margin with thin dash line and brown patterns. Fovea and striae distinctly marked. OS dorsally with alternating yellow with brown patches, with a bright transverse band in the posterior half. OS ventrally with brown marks, regularly arranged.

MALE: Unknown.
