Diagnosis – Bodymediumsize (7.0– 10.5 mm); elliptical, smooth. Head hexagonal. Clypeusdeeplyemarginateatfrontborder. Eyesdividedintotwo partsbygenaecompletely. Mentumlongitudinallyconvexinmiddle. Maxillarypalpuswithsecuriformterminalpalpomere. Antennaeslightlywidening toapex. Pronotumtransverse; anteriormargindeeplyemarginatewithnarrowbead; basalmarginslightlyemarginateornearlystraight, withoutbead orwithnarrowintactorpartialbead; pronotumwithcoarsepuncturesor thinlongitudinalwrinkles. Elytrapunctato-striatedistinctlyornot; intervals withlargepunctures. Pseudoepipleuronintact, reachingapices. Hindwings lessdeveloped. Prosternumwithtwolonghairsinmiddle; prosternalprocess verticallydescending, prominentattheapex. Mesosternumwithdeepgroove inmiddle. Metasternumwithfaintlongitudinalgroove. Femorasimple, those inmalewithdenseorsparsehairsneartheapexinventralsurface. Protibia graduallywideningfrombasetoapex, inneredgenearlystraightorslightly curved; ventralsurfacewithadistinctdepressioninseveralspecies. Mesotibia simpleinbothsexes, graduallywideningtoapex, slightlycurvedorstraight. Metatibiaslender, straightorcurved. ProtarsomeresItoIIIinmaleextremely dilated, withdensefuzzinventralsurface; protarsomeresItoIVinfemale narrow, withsparsefuzzinventralsurface. Mesotarsomeresnarrowinboth sexes, ItoIVwithoutfuzzinventralsurface ( MEdvEdEv 1968).
Distribution – China, Japan, Mongolia, NorthKorea, SouthKoreaand
Russia.
Composition – Untilnowtenspeciesofthegenus Blindus arevalid (includingthetwonewonesdescribedbelow), theyare B. contractus sp. n., B. discolor sp. n., B. curvotibius Ren et Zhang, 2010 , B. fulvicornis ( Reitter, 1889), B. japonicus ( Seidlitz, 1893), B. potanini nudiventris Medvedev, 1968, B. potanini potanini Medvedev, 1968, B. reichardti Medvedev, 1968, B. strigosus ( Faldermann, 1835) and B. thibetanus ( Fairmaire, 1897).
