Distribution.
Widespread in South America, including Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Paraguay, Venezuela ( Anzoátegui, Apure, Aragua, Barinas, Cojedes, Falcón, Guárico, Tachira, Trujillo, Zulia). Previously recorded in Apure State ( Oliva 2002).
Remarks.
This very common species is mostly encountered in standing waters such as marshes and roadside ditches. It has not yet been encountered south of the Orinoco in Venezuela.
