Coccus blanchardii Targioni Tozzetti, 1868 is a nomen nudum. Both Targioni Tozzetti (1868) and Signoret (1876: 349) discussed this binomen in the section of Dactylopius View in CoL . Fernald (1903: 318) listed the name in error as the first available name for the species later described as Aonidia blanchardi Targioni Tozzetti, 1892: 69 View in CoL (now Parlatoria blanchardi (Targioni Tozzetti) . Current status: an unrecognisable species.
