Burckhardt et al. (2009) studied the description of this species and concluded that it is a psyllid species, identical to Trioza remota Foerster, 1848 , nomen protectum. For the sake of stability Coccus folii-quercus Sulzer, 1776 is regarded as a nomen oblitum, and a synonym of Trioza remota Foerster, 1848 .
