Leptohelea View in CoL :

- There is only one very short medial scutal apodeme, a feature nearly unique within the family (but see also a single well-developed medial apodeme in female Stenoxenus below).

- The female wing is unique within the family in having M 1 absent basally as well as being distally curved posteriorly, with the apex close to the apex of M 2. In addition, R 1 and R 3 arise from a common point near r-m (perhaps also present in the Eocene fossil * Gedanohelea ; see also Camptopterohelea ).

- Borkent et al. (2008b: 632) suggested that the veins M 1 and M 2 being parallel may be a derived condition. Further study indicates that the condition is too variable and difficult to score in other taxa to warrant further attention.
