Notes.

The diverse genus Herpotrichia was established by Fuckel (1868) to include two species, H. rhenana and H. rubi , but without designating a type species. Thus, Bose (1961) assigned H. rhenana as the lectotype. Subsequently, Holm (1979) assigned H. herpotrichoides (synonymous with H. rubi ) as the generic type ( Cannon 1982). The species have erumpent to superficial ascomata, clavate to cylindrical asci with hyaline to pale brown, 1 - septate ascospores ( Sivanesan 1984; Tian et al. 2015). The asexual morph is pyrenochaeta-like with or without setae on the surface of the pycnidia ( Sivanesan 1984; Hongsanan et al. 2020). Herpotrichia species have been reported as saprobes, mostly in dead wood substrates in 34 plant families (Fig. 10 View Figure 10 ).
