Distribution: Allopatric south and east African populations: Angola, Botswana, Ethiopia, Mozambique, Namibia, Somalia, South Africa, Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, Zimbabwe.

Conservation: IUCN – Lower Risk (lc).

Discussion: Synonyms allocated according to G. M. Allen (1939) and Ellerman et al. (1953).
