( Figures 15–22 View FIGURES 15 – 22 )
Perilitus seximius Muesebeck, 1955: 143 Orionis eximius Shaw, 1987: 107 View in CoL
Diagnosis (female). Body length 4.5–5.5 mm (males: 4.3–5.4 mm); flagellum with 21–22 segments (males: 22– 24). Body color mostly dark brown to black; mandibles and palpi almost always pale lime-yellow; fore and mid legs mostly yellow and hind legs mostly dark brown, all trochanter usually lighter, in some specimens from Costa Rica all legs are mostly pale brown, with hind coxa and femur commonly a little darker dorsally; antenna color variable: entirely dark brown in the Mexican specimens, including the holotype, but several females from Costa Rica have antenna lightening toward apex with the apical 1/3 yellow, and specimens from Panama have the apical third contrasting whitish yellow (all males have the antenna entirely dark brown); wings hyaline or nearly so. Frons distinctly rugose; in dorsal view, temples gradually sloping from eye, 0.4–0.5 × eye length. Mesoscutum with median lobe setose, punctate anteriorly, posteriorly depressed and strongly rugulose with mid-longitudinal carina; lateral lobes of mesoscutum bare, smooth and polished. Scutellar sulcus with three and complete carina. Propodeum entirely rugose, with dorsal face horizontal and posterior face vertical; posterior face with distinct median depression. Pronotum varying from rugose to coarsely punctate laterally, sculpturing covering most of its surface; pronotal collar rugose, in most specimens with a V-shaped smoother and yellowish spot mid-anteriorly. Mesopleuron with broad and shallow, strongly rugose sternaulus, smooth and polished medially and ventrally, rugose at subalar groove, mostly covered with setae except on polished central area. Fore wing vein m-cu interstitial or shortly basad to vein 2RS. Hind wing vein cu-a usually slightly longer than vein r-m, sometimes roughly with same length, and vein 1M around 1.5 (1.4–1.7) × longer than r-m. Ovipositor 1.8–2.2 × longer than petiole.

Distribution. Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador Mexico and Panama. This distribution matches the native distribution of the host plant Lantana camara ( Day et al. 2003, Fig. 6 View FIGURES 1 – 7 ). This species has been collected only at high elevation localities over Central and South America. Localities with known altitudes are at least 1250 m above sea level, being the type localities the only without precise altitudinal information (but at least 1200 m).
