Type:— MEXICO: s. loc., 1837, Barker s.n. (lectotype, designated here: K-L s.n.!).

Notes: — Lindley (1838c) described N. barkeri without designating a holotype or informing the herbarium where it was deposited. An exsiccate was found in his own collection in the K herbarium. It is believed to have been one of the original samples used by the author to describe the species, therefore it is designated here as a lectotype.
