Distribution. Nearctic: Canada, USA; Neotropical: Bahamas, Brazil, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Grenada, Guatemala, Honduras, Jamaica, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay (Central: San Lorenzo), Puerto Rico.

Comments. Besides James (1973a: 26.19), who was the first to mention this species occurring in Paraguay, this species was also mentioned for Paraguay by James & McFadden (1982: 13). It is not surprising that this species has already been stated to occur in Paraguay, as this is the most common and widespread species of Sargus in the Americas. However, a formal record from Paraguay had not been provided so far.
