Cyphomyia wiedemanni Gerstaecker, 1857: 302 . Syntypes: 1 male, 1 female (ZMHB). Type locality: Brazil, Pará; Syntypes: 1 male, 1 female ( ZMHB). Type locality: French Guiana , Cayenne; Syntypes: number of specimens and sex not stated ( ZMHB). Type locality: Suriname ; Syntype: 1 female ( ZMHB). Type locality: Venezuela ; Syntypes: 1 male, 1 female ( ZIL). Type locality: Brazil ; Syntypes: male, female, but the quantity of each sex is not stated ( NMW). Type locality: Brazil , “south Brazil ”.

= Cyphomyia albispinis Costa, 1866: 39 . Nomen nudum. Probably refers to Cyphomyia flavispinis Macquart, 1855 .

= Cyphomyia cyanispis Bigot, 1874: 86 . Nomen nudum.

= Cyphomyia cyanispis Bigot, 1876: 487 . Holotype: male (NHMUK). Type locality: Brazil, “Amazon”.
