Diagnosis

Planar colonies. Branching pinnate, ramification pinnate, lax, with branch axes loosely anastomosing. Coenenchyme almost always forming more or less continuous lamina, by filling in meshes of axes net. Coenenchymal sclerites scaphoids with echinulate convex profile, and stout spindles with girdles of tubercles ( Bayer 1961: 271).
