COMMON NAME (S): Erebid moth. SYNONYM(S): Oraesia metallescens Guenée, 1852b View in CoL ; Oraesia alliciens Walker, 1858a View in CoL ; Oraesia tentans Walker, 1858a View in CoL ; Oraesia camaguina Swinhoe, 1918 View in CoL .

IUCN STATUS: Not Evaluated (NE).

DISTRIBUTION: Angola, Democratic Republic of Congo, Eswatini, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Gambia, Kenya, Madagascar, Namibia , Nigeria, Oman, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Yemen, Zambia, Zimbabwe. Also occurs in Australasia: Australia, New

Caledonia; Oriental: India, Indonesia, New Guinea, Pakistan, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Sulawesi, Taiwan; Palaearctic:

China, Japan, Korea, Nepal.

LOCALITY IN ZAMBIA: ‘Lusaka’, in Lusaka Province. LARVAL HOSTPLANT(S): Taxon reported to associate with the following Rosaceae host plants in South Africa; Prunus persica (L.) Batsch, P. domestica L., Prunus armeniaca L., Malus domestica Borkh. and Pyrus sp. In Zimbabwe the host plant is Distimake quinquefolius (L.) A.R.Simıes & Staples ( Convolvulaceae ) while Cissampelos

sp. and Cocculus sp. (both from the plant family Menispermaceae ) are reported to be host plants of the taxon elsewhere in Africa . No host plants of the taxon are known in Zambia. The following are listed as larval food plants of the taxon; Four Menispermaceae species ( Cissampelos pareira L., C. torulosa

E.Mey. ex Harv. & Sond., C. tropaeolifolia DC. and Cocculus orbiculatus (L.) DC.), one Rutaceae species ( Citrus sp. ), one Sapindaceae species ( Dimocarpus sp. ), two Convolvulaceae species ( Ipomoea sp. and Distimake quinquefolius (L.) A.R.Simıes & Staples), one Rosaceae species ( Malus pumila Mill. ), one Myrtaceae species ( Psidium guajava L.), one Malvaceae species ( Sida sp. ), one Menispermaceae species ( Stephania japonica var. discolor (Blume) Forman ), one Vitaceae species ( Vitis sp. ) and one Rubiaceae species ( Gardenia gummifera L.f.).
