Distribution: Senegal and Guinea-Bissau to Somalia, south to Uganda, Dem. Rep. Congo, Kenya, and Tanzania; Madagascar.

Conservation: IUCN 2003 and IUCN / SSC Action Plan (2001) – Lower Risk (lc) as Eptesicus somalicus .

Discussion: Does not include zuluensis ; see Peterson et al. (1995). Reviewed in part by Peterson et al. (1995). Subspecific allocations of West African and Tanzanian populations are uncertain.
