This species was reported from various places worldwide (Asia, Europe, Russia, North and South America, Africa) (review in Skoracki 2004c). Previously S. minor was reported from six passerine hosts: the House Sparrow Passer domesticus , (L.), the Eurasian Tree Sparrow P. montanus (L.) ( Ploceidae ), the Redwing Turdus iliacus (L.) ( Turdidae ), the Common Starling Sturnus vulgaris L. ( Sturnidae ), the Black-faced Canary Serinus capistratus (Finsch et Hartlaub) and the European Greenfinch Carduelis chloris (L.) ( Fringillidae ) ( Skoracki 2004c; Natress & Skoracki 2007).

Material examined. From quills (secondaries and tail feathers) of the House Sparrow Passer domesticus (L.): 23 females, 4 males, 11 nymphs and 2 larvae (Syr. 94C); Jordan (new locality), Al-Dhleil, 15 March 2003, leg. M. Skoracki. From quills (secondaries and tail feathers) of the Spanish Sparrow Passer hispaniolensis (Temminck) (new host): 18 females, 6 males, 10 nymphs, 1 larva (Syr. 185); Jordan, Al-Dhleil, 18 March 2003, leg. M. Skoracki. From quills (coverts) of the Song Thrush Turdus philomelos Brehm (Turdidae) (new host): 12 females, 7 nymphs (Syr. 186); Jordan, Al-Dhleil, 0 5 March 2003, leg. M. Skoracki.
