Collecting circumstances. This species seems to inhabit a rather wide variety of running water habitats. While specimens from Jinggang Shan were collected in a small stream with a sandy bottom ( Fig. 17 View FIGURES 16–19 ), specimens from Tianmu Shan were collected in a larger mountain river with a stony bottom ( Fig. 18 View FIGURES 16–19 ).

Remarks. The coarser punctures on the elytra are somewhat smaller and sparser in the material from Guizhou than in specimens from south-eastern China. However, those specimens agree well with typical P. punctatipennis in other characters, and therefore we list them under that species.

Distribution. Relatively widespread species in south-eastern China, so far known from Guangdong, Fujian and Jiangxi. First records from Guizhou and Zhejiang ( Fig. 20 View FIGURE 20 ).
