Material examined. Papua New Guinea: East Sepik, Hunsteinspitze , (4°24'S, 142°52'E), 26.ii.1913, coll. Bürgers (KAE 278)— 1 male (holotype) (Berlin ZMB) .

Discussion. Prosopogryllacris horvathi nigrovenosa ( Karny, 1928b) does not have the very distinct but for Prosopogryllacris unusual color pattern of the hind wings found in P. horvati (Griffini, 1909) or P. gamta sp. nov. instead the hind wings are semi-transparent white with darkened cross-veins bordered by very narrow dark bands as found in many species of the genus (fotos in OSF). Moreover, the male type of P. nigrovenosa is of distinctly narrower appearance than P. horvathi . It is thus unlikely that both taxa are closely related. P. nigrovenosa is therefore raised to full species level. The male holotype has the ninth abdominal tergite globular and narrowly furrowed in midline, towards apical margin angularly divided in middle and on both sides provided with a slightly curved projection with subacute but blunt tip. The male subgenital plate is wider than long with a medial furrow and bilobate apex; the styli are conical and shorter than the plate ( Figs. 26 M–N).
