Ö: polylektisch, univoltin, die Art hat geringe ökologische Ansprüche ( WESTRICH 1989).
V: Die Steinhummel ist in ganz Mitteleuropa in tieferen Lagen häufig und verbreitet (NEUMAYER & KOFLER 2005).
