• Smallsized marsupial with pointed snout, c. 50 reduced teeth, long vermiform tongue, and eyes near top of head; sparse, short, stiff hair on dorsal surface, softer and longer ventrally, and prominent dorsal white bands; long sparse tail hair; no pouch.

• Eucalypt forest and woodland and savanna woodland.

• 1 genus, 1 species, at least 1 extant taxon.

• I species Endangered; 1 subspecies Extinct since 1600.
